Storytelling & Mindfulness

Explore stories and the world around us with author, astrophysicist and mindfulness teacher Mark Westmoquette.

This session offers a mix of hands-on activities, relaxing mindful moments and readings from the book, including:

- feeling our planet through our sense of weight and gravity

- exploring the light and warmth of the sun, leading to understanding about how we receive the Sun’s energy

- reading the Aztec story/myth of 'Nanahuatzin Became the Sun, Tecciztecatl Became the Moon'

- discussing how we can send wishes of love and kindness to others on a beam of sunlight or moonlight

Tickets for this event are charged on a pay as you feel basis, starting at £2 per child and on a completely pay as you feel basis for adults, but please note that each person attending will need a ticket, and children must be accompanied by an adult at all times. All money from ticket sales supports the running, continuation and expansion of Canterbury Children's Literature Festival and our year round outreach work within the local community. You can order a ticket & book, which will include a hardback copy of Look Up at Bedtime which Mark will be happy to sign for you after the event!

Mark Westmoquette is an author, astrophysicist, zen meditation and yoga teacher. His passion is in showing you how to connect our inner and outer universes to bring you into a deeper relationship with the cosmos, your life and to your true self in a way that is fun, informative and meaningful. Look Up at Bedtime is his first children's book, all about mindful stargazing.
