Gothic Writing & Mysteries with Felicity Epps
Get inspired by the spirits of Victorian England in this gothic writing workshop!
Time & Location
08 Jul 2026, 10:00 – 14:00
Canterbury, Canterbury, UK
About the event
Explore the wonderful world of Victorian gothic fiction with a fun and interactive workshop for individual classes or small groups. Timings can be adjusted to suit schools' needs, Felicity would prefer to visit one school, with multiple sessions throughout the day, so please book the whole day visit and we will be in touch to discuss all of the details regarding timings.
Broadstairs-based Felicity Epps published her debut novel for young adults, A Grave Inheritance, in July last year - the first in a supernatural murder mystery series called the Society of Free Spirits published by Hachette. In this School Workshop, we will learn how to craft our own gothic murder mysteries, reveal hidden clues and create our own characters... or suspects! With the added atmosphere of Victorian England, students can fill out police reports and witness statements to build their own investigation. We will think about plot twists and how to create red herrings for the reader - and whether a ghost might haunt the crime scene!
Perfect for Years 7 -9
School events are provided free to local schools with Canterbury Children's Literature Festival covering the costs.
